Glenda Eoyang (keynote speaker Sunday evening)
Presentation title: How do we know what we know?
The complex dynamics of cognitive, social, organizational, and political
systems shape the emerging patterns of teaching and learning. When we
recognize this fact, our pedagogical theories, models, methods, and tools
are transformed. Even more importantly, the foundations of research theory
and practice must also be adapted. Glenda Eoyang introduces a theoretical
framework from the emerging field of human systems dynamics. The framework
explains change in self-organizing systems and demonstrates how complex
dynamics influence innovations in teaching, learning, and research praxis.
Alan Flurry (keynote speaker Monday morning)
Short bio: Alan Flurry lives in Athens, Georgia, where he is Director of
Communications for the University of Georgia Faculty of Engineering. A
musician and writer, Alan is the author of four novels, a one-act play, and
a full-length stage drama.
Presentation title: Moving through time - perceiving a glimpse at history.
